Juan Calahorrano was appointed as the first Executive Director of Chicago UNIDOS in Construction (UNIDOS), a membership based non-for-profit organization founded in 2024 by a group of Latino/a Contractors and Professional Services firms with the goal of increasing opportunities for construction companies. The mission of UNIDOS is to “To advocate and lobby for equitable Prime and Subcontractor opportunities on behalf of Latino Contractors and Professional Services firms in the construction industry, support the construction industry/community and philanthropically support the communities we serve”.

Mr. Calahorrano, a dynamic entrepreneur, has been at the helm of JLC & Associates, a business consulting firm he founded in 2009. What began as a part-time venture has now flourished under his adept leadership, prompting Juan to commit full-time to the enterprise as of March 2023.

Specializing in pivotal areas such as business formation, strategic planning, procurement lobbying, business development, and private/public procurement practices, JLC & Associates is a driving force in the construction, supply chain, and education industries.

For more than 15 years, Juan has been a significant player in the construction sector. His journey began at a non-profit, membership-based construction organization, where Juan played a central role in the organization's mission to foster the growth of its extensive membership base. His expertise grew to include membership relations, industry advocacy, business development, and contract/grant management. Juan was not just an internal figure; he also adeptly represented the organization on various industry committees, working tirelessly to advance its mission, even in the media.

Juan's influence doesn't end there. He is a distinguished educator with an impressive track record spanning two decades. His journey as an adjunct professor at DeVry University began in 1999, where he engaged college students in business and entrepreneurship programs. At St. Augustine College, Juan impacted over 500 business owners, teaching and coaching them in areas ranging from business management to finance and he also enriched the academic landscape at Kendall College in Chicago from 2014 to 2015.

Academically, Juan is a distinguished alumnus of DeVry University, having earned his degree in Business Operations. His thirst for knowledge led him to the Keller Graduate School of Management, where he earned his master's degree in Business Administration.
